Ingredients
Water : 1 Glass
Turmeric : 1/2 Teaspoon
Sugar : 1/2 Teaspoon
Green Chillies : 1 or 2*
Rasam Powder: 1 or 2 Teaspoons
Tamarind : Small lemon size
Curry Leaf: 1 Stem of Leaves
Salt to taste.
(Check Fudtionary for meanings if you have doubt with the words in orange colour.)
Rasam Powder Preparation
Coriander Seeds : 100gms
Pepper : 50gms
Cumin Seeds : 2 Teaspoon
Curry Leaves : 10 Stems of Leaves
Split Red Gram : 1 spoon
Red Chillies : 5
Method
Roast all the above ingredients in a pan and powder to a fine powder using mixie.
This will keep well for months in a airtight container.
Rasam Preparation
Put water in a vessel and add Turmeric,Salt,Sugar,Tamarind,Chillies,Curry leaves and Rasampowder.(No need to follow same order).
Boil for some time like about 5 mins and serve hot with rice.
* Depends upon your taste.
Note:Instead of tamarind you can use lemon(one).
You can also add tomatoes,and drumsticks if you want.
Some ppl also add additional seasoning. They fry mustard, jeera and Hing in Ghee and add it to chaaru.
